Summary of terms used to describe
planning stages |
|
Operational |
Planning consent has been given by the local authority / Scottish Executive.
The wind farm has been constructed and is delivering energy to the National
Grid. |
Approved |
Planning consent has been given by the local authority / Scottish Executive.
The wind farm may be under construction but has not delivered energy
to the National Grid. |
Application |
The developer has submitted a competent planning application to the
local authority/ Scottish Executive. |
Scoping |
The developer is consulting with the local authority / Scottish Executive
about the detailed information to be contained in the Environmental Impact
Assessment, which must accompany the planning application. |
Proposal |
The developer has presented plans for a wind farm to local communities
or the development has been referred to in the press. |
Anemometer |
An anemometer is an instrument mounted on a mast to continuously measure wind speed and direction. Also it can be referred to as a meteorological or wind measuring mast. Note: Developers are correct when they say a planning application for an anemometer does not necessarily lead to a planning application for a wind farm. Statistically, however, there is a high probablity that a planning application for a wind farm will follow a planning application for an anemometer. |
